The Gents proceeded to steal a road win against University of Louisiana-Lafayette. After the victory they won their second conference game against IPFW on January 8. However, the Gents have dropped three games in a row, including a large loss to the conference preseason top pick winner, Oakland.
The Gents are definitely a team that runs a strong offense from behind the perimeter, scoring 72.3 points per game (ppg), and averaging 8.1 three-pointers a game. Sophomore David Perez is leading the Gents with 16.8 ppg and is shooting 60-71 (.845) from the free throw line. Junior Roman Tubner is averaging 11.7 ppg, while dishing off a team-high of 53 assists.
Defensively, the Gents are allowing 82.7 ppg, but are defending aggressively to only are let in 6.1 three-pointers a game. Centenary gets outrebounded, 40.4 - 30.0, with Senior Jerold Bonham pulling down 4.8 rebounds, and has totaled 16 this season securing him in ninth place all time. He only needed four more rebounds to move up placements, as the Gents went into play against IUPUI Saturday. Tubner leads the team with 31 steals, while Damon Starring follows with 23.
Up next the Gents will continue Conference play against Oral Roberts, South Dakota State, and the Homecoming game against North Dakota State. Come out and support your Gents in the Gold Dome!
