I had been to open mic nights before, and I must say that the event hosted by APO met all my expectations. For just a dollar, your fellow classmates could entertain you with music, poetry, comic relief, and more. Free cookies, coffee and made-to-order lattes were provided, as well as cider and hot cocoa for just an additional two dollars: a small price to pay for a good drink.
The event drew in a variety of students, including sophomore, Josh Johnson. His comic act led into several musical performances, including a moving a capella piece from freshman Andrew Wood, and a duet featuring freshman BJ Acosta and senior Shannon Stoddard. Freshman Karley Aiken sang a number of beautiful songs and even provided an encore with keyboards provided by Cara Lamb. There was a poetry reading from freshman, Chris Youngblood, and, as expected, Alan's Hot Tub provided an improv act that made me laugh until my eyes watered.
Stoddard, president of APO, and vice president Rachael Magill organized the event. All of the money made that night goes to help the APO for things such as the Jennifer White Memorial and the group's end of the year banquet.
If you're looking for some relaxation and fun then I strongly recommend you come to the next one.
